Excellent Soundtrack (Composition). Probably Best Part of Movie Too

This movie gets worse reviews that it deserves.

I've seen far worse movies that had been released in the year 2000 (Pitch Black being one of them)

Overall, I rate this film a not so bad science fiction flick, with decent acting and a lot of originality.

The movie's real shining star though is the composition on behalf of David C Williams. I had literally never heard of him until I did a search to see who had conducted the score to this movie.

Absolutely amazing music. It truly seems to go perfectly with a science fiction element. I can't believe Mr. Williams resume isn't luxurious, given what he did with this one.

The score is fantastic. Try to find a copy if you can; Intrada released a limited run (3000 I believe) with both the theatrical score, and a rejected score to an earlier cut made in 1998/99, which is also an interesting listen.
