Why is there another actor credited with playing Troy and a third actor credited with the "Voice of Troy"?? Weren't they all played by the same actor with makeup changes when he evolves at the end of the film? It just looks like Peter Facinelli all the way through. Very confusing...
"He carries illegal weapons, drives fast cars & wears clothes obviously designed by a homosexual."
I'm not sure, but from watching a deleted scene on the DVD years ago, I think I know the answer.
There was a deleted scene where the actual Troy was found (barely alive) by Spader down on the planet. He had been significantly mutated from exposure to the 9th dimensional matter device. He looked very disturbing, almost fetal. His voice had a sickly and artificial quality that makes for a truly creepy scene.
He expires soon after speaking to Spader. If there is another actor credited for the 'Voice of Troy', I would be it is a vestige of this deleted scene.
I would recommend searching for the scene. Maybe it is available on youtube. It was quite memorable and it really established just how cruel Karl was to abandon his mutated son in that state and assume his identity.
Maybe it was deleted for pacing reasons--similar to Ripley finding Dallas still alive in Alien. I just hate when really atmospheric and creepy sequences like these end up on the editing room floor.
I have the DVD, but haven't watched in a very long time. But I remember the scene you are talking about. I also remember Karl not dying in the explosion, but during the dimension jump. But I could be wrong there.
