in such great shape
To bad spader didn't stay in such great shape. It could of opened the doors to so many great new roles. Instead, he chose the route that lead him to Bosten Legal today. What a one-dimentional waste of his talent.

shareyeah, I agree...I almost didn't know who he was when I first saw the movie because he looked and acted different than his pretty boy a$$hole pr--- roles he did in the late 80's and early 90's... now he looks like the pillsbury doughboy.....still young looking just not in shape..
I still love his work though ( not in Boston legal.. he sold out big time with that role.)
agreed

then how come Ryan Reynolds stayed in shape after Blade 3?
shareWhat do you mean by "The problem is that actors go to personal trainers who will do what they have to (if you get my meaning) so they can get these actors bodies into shape." Are you suggesting that they took drugs, developed temporary anorexia, or something else? I'm just not following, and after seeing what Gerard Butler did for 300, I am certain that an actor or actress can simply work at a grueling pace to get into shape for a movie.
shareSorry, I don't agree with you or the OP.
If he'd stayed in this kind of role he would just have been another pretty boy who was hot.
Apart from his looks, and being hot, he's a great actor. Also he can be unnervingly scary in a way that seems unique to him. Any reasonable good-looking competent actor could have played 'Nick' in this movie. IMO Spader was wasted. (Also, again IMO, in Driftwood.
As to him "selling out big time with that role" in Boston Legal, the show was created around him and gave him an opportunity to show his acting skills in such a multi-layered character. I don't consider that 'selling out'.

NO! It was important that he did this, because it's such a contrast to "Daniel" from Stargate. I think he proved he can be sexy in a very macho short-haired giving-people-orders having-lots-of-muscles sort of way!

Nicebat and I had to party.
I think he proved this in 2 Days in the Valley - "Lee" couldn't have been a bigger contrast to "Daniel".
OK. "Lee" wasn't exactly a hero but still ....
I agree Lee in 2 Days in the Valley was different from Daniel in Stargate, how could I disagree? However, I was thinking of sci-fi fans who might not see 2DITV.

I'm pretty sure Spader's current puffiness is due to medication (possibly steroids) and not him letting himself go.
shareI never knew he got in such great shape... as I forgot about this movie.
