Intended to be a softcore porn?

Does anyone know if this movie was originally written as a softcore porn? I saw certain influences in the preparing-for-warp-speed sequences. Thanks,

It is funny you say that because I saw a free test screening of this movie and on the comment card I wrote that the only way they could hope to make money off the film would be to add more scenes to make it a full blow softcore porn. This movie was so bad.

So they showed a couple of boobs, big deal.

Trece para siempre.

reply

Yes, they should have had far more sex and called it "*beep*ed In Space".

hahahahah

If they went porn on this one they should have picked a better partner for Danika(Robin Tunney). I mean Lou Diamond Phillips, yuk! She deserved better. Maybe Russell Crowe.(My wife really likes him).

Well she also had sex with Peter Facinelli, didn't she?

I don't think so, it's just a James Spader movie. Almost all of them involve nudity and sex. It's really funny, because if you look at it, his most down-to-earth film is Stargate.

"Feet-first into hell" ODST motto

reply

Yeah, but can anyone name a film with him in where he actually does full frontal nudity?

I hated this movie, it was extraordinarily embarrassing. I watched it years ago, and IF i remember right, some ship picked up some item, and the crew went sexually insane or something.

That's my memory.
Probably not the truth. lol

The movie has it's flaws, no doubt about that.
But it certainly isn't soft porn. No more sex or sexual references than a Bond movie. (Bond has had over 250 partners in the series so far, by that way, and that's family entertainment?)
The film fails because the viewer has to search for the real plot rather than having it thrown at you like most movies. Sadly, it's just too loosely put together for comfort or confirmation.

Was it ever released or did it go straight to DVD/video. I've got it on DVD but I find that on the TV screen it's difficult to see what's going on.

I think it would not look much better on the big screen. They really should have made it easier on the eye.

Seriously I thought this too. I mean, the makers of this film just looked for any excuse to have a nude scene. OMG were going into hyperspace, let's all strip!
It had absolutely no purpose.

reply

the purpose of them stripping naked was so they would not get reanimated with their clothes after the "jump"... that's how the captain died--the pod was faulty, and his parts got reanimated all wrong--i think his arteries or some other were on the outside, stuck to the pod glass itself...

It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack. Not rationality...

reply

Reintegrated, not reanimated. But yes. That was the reason. When your hyperjump technology involves breaking your body down into bio-organic molecules, shooting them through space at FTL speed and reintegrating the molecules back into your body at the destination, it just won't do to have any non-organic and non-genetic material getting into the mix. The hyperjump pods apparently have some margin of error and aren't perfect at telling different genetic codes apart, hence the organic mix-up in the (quite erotic) final scene.

As FTL theory goes, the technology in Supernova actually makes perfect sense. Imagine how many G's your spaceship would pull during FTL travel; the G-force would be inconceivably powerful. The only ways for a soft and squishy human body to survive such tremendous levels of pressure without being reduced to runny goo would be to either freeze it solid (like in the Lost in Space movie) or reduce it to molecules and recompose it after the hyperjump.

Hey, maybe if every sci-fi movie required people to strip naked before going into hyperspace or FTL travel, the world would be a better place. ;-)

reply

". . . FTL travel . . . ."

LOL That's a good name for a travel agency.

reply

I don't get how this even comes close to softcore porn... It has some boobs, so? Try Showgirls if you want to see something that is basically porn.

reply

Yeah, this thread really shows how prudish some people are. This is nothing even remotely close to porn. But have a sex scene and show a tit, and some people act like Victorians.

reply

Nope, but it would've been much better as an exploitation b-movie.

reply

it's funny because the pg-13 version contained all the nudity as well.
