'Maybe they can be helped' (spoiler warning)

Hey gang, I've got a question:

Near the end, Newberry decides to make a noble sacrifice in order to stop the Blue Ribbons, but Steve says, 'Maybe they can be helped' and Newberry says, 'No they can't.'

Okay, stupid question: Was what Caldicott did to the Blue Ribbons permanent? I mean, can't the process be reversed somehow? Or is it basically, 'you get lobotomized, you're screwed'? If anyone knows, please post.

I think they can't be helped because... well, remember that scene with the girl going "bad wrong, wrong bad, bad wrong, wrong bad" then hit her self and stuff like that. Only to go "I have to go, I have a big physics test tomorrow.

And I guess if you took out the chip, the person could be... dead.

So basically, once you're lobotomized, that's it? There is no reversal process? Damn, talk about a total mind frag. Thanks again alyhannah! :)

But if it cant be reversed then how come in the alternate ending nick stahls character returns to normal after he is shot?

reply

I'm guessing the only way out is to die. Massive Trauma from death probably caused him to revert back...that's just my theory.
