I saw this movie for the first time today even though it is always on tv, sad I know.

Dr. Caldotti (or however you spell it..i dont feel like going back to look at the spelling) said his daughter didn't work right, were all the other people experiments gone wrong?

I don't think it's actually said in the movie.
But, i think we're meant to believe so, and, it's spelt 'Dr. Caldicott'

EDIT:
Yes, they are, i just re-watched the movie. and i think it's Gavin who says something about Caldicott calling them his children... or something >.<
