the town is controlled by the sheriff who in turn was working with the professor.
the sheriff is a loose liability for UV, racheal, steve and his sister.
the sheriff would have all 4 arrested and sent to the asylum to be implanted ASAP.
but not only that but those 4 kids would be looked at as the cause of death for basicly 20 of the towns children and the parents would want vengence and look to the sheriff to give it. to say nothing of steves folks who won't listen to their own son. not to mention talk about their eldist which shot himself. to me they seem better off without any kids around since ultimatly thats what they want...
but that leaves the question would you try to protect your only living son and your daughter or would you let them be jailed, or killed or implanted... to save face in the community??? and would the community leave steves parents alone??
Steve's parents betrayed their kids. The community turned a blind eye to all this. Not to mention that no one has any idea who was funding/backing up Caldicott's work. Or do you think it was entirely funded by the kids' parents and bake sales?
That being said, after all those kids got killed along with Caldicott, if I was a cop who controlled the community and had covered up multiple murders and violent incidents, I'd run.
There's nothing to stop the four from placing an anonymous tip to the State Police or the FBI.
