mind-control / implant movies

I know the "implant" scene from this movie is a direct homage to the one in Total Recall. What other movies out there have similar scenes, or similar themes of invasive mind-control? Wondering....

reply

Interesting, I thought the implant scene (plus the pic on the box cover) was more like a direct homage to Kubrick's A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. When Alex gets "rehabilitated"

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

anyone else?

reply

DEFINITELY. I was thinking Clockwork Orange myself, esp. when they had their eyelids forced open to watch the propoganda films . . . the only difference is that in CO Alex got drugged, and in DB they got implants.

was way funnier!

I too was thinking that.

other mind control movies... I bet there is a list or keyword search for that.

Mind control of group of people
Body Snatcher
Puppet Masters
The Faculty
Invaders from Mars
Equilibrium
White Zombie

Single person controlled
Serenity
Ichi the Killer
clockwork orange
There's Nothing Out There
Altered
Total Recall
Zoolander

You can see what other films are listed and what should be, and add the keywords yourself. As a community we have to update films' keyword lists so we can connect similar movies for other fans. It also improves IMDbs suggestion section on each film's page.

I noticed that the original Body Snatchers film has very few keywords. Something I do sometimes is find a movie that has very few keywords and find movies similar to it and copy a bunch of it's keywords so they can connect. Of course I make sure they apply to both, and do that with other movies, and before you know it, I connected hundreds of movies to each other.

So next time any of you start recommending similar films on one film's thread, consider checking out the keyword lists and improving them, so that fans of other films will come to the film page of your similar favorite film.

Other movie that I can think of is Stepford's Wives. Pretty analogy!

street fighter. blanka was forced to watch all the proganda stuff. and the faculty when all the kids where having aliens shoved into their ears.

reply

What about the Faculty? High school + mind control + evil staff; true, there aren't any aliens, but the two movies have very similar qualities, I think.

reply

the faculty was freaking awsome... and thats how you do that

reply

Undercover Brother, very funny.

Number 1, I order you to go take a number 2.

Undercover Brother? Then does anyone remember Remote Control? That had a brain-wash story that was similar to Disturbing Behaviour, but told in a completley different tone and way of story-telling.... but a brain washing movie nonetheless.

reply

There was an Outer Limits episode in where the students had implants in which it programmed the students to assasinate.

reply

The Manchurian Canadate (sp?) (both versions) dealt with mind control and brain washing.

As do the CIA in real life (MK Ultra, Bluebird, Monarch, etc...all mind control experiments)...when the first kid we see converted (the one who calls his teacher a "pecker head") is surrounded by hockey-stick armed Blue Ribbons, the leader yells "The troops shall set you free", an homage possibly to the slogan on the CIA's main HQ - "The truth shall set you free".
