Is this actually real? Do people in Alaska actually play and like Hockey?

Hockey is amazing so I'm sure there are people everywhere who like it and play it. Alaska, being frozen and cold all the time, probably makes it easier to get involved than if they lived in Arizona (where there are a bunch of great youth hockey programs, a D1 men's program and an NHL team).

Also breaking news, baseball is popular in the caribbean islands. Also soccer is popular in 3rd world countries. I know, like OMG.

Just because a place is cold it doesn't mean they like to play Hockey.

I asked the question because I follow Hockey a great deal and I've never heard of any NHL players from Alaska.

And Unlike you I'm fully aware Hollywood likes to make stuff up just to make a movie seem interesting. For example the force isn't real Obi-wan.

LOL what does that have to do with this topic? Are you saying that every caribean island is suppose to like baseball now because its popular in some parts of the the Caribean. Someone should tell Jamaica and Haiti that.

Another pointless response. I'm already aware of "Futballs" popularity in many countries. Again what does that have to with people from Alaska liking Hockey.

True, just because it's cold some place doesn't mean they like hockey but for this town in this movie they do. Besides that, in an environment like that, what other sport are they going to play?

I believe Scott Gomez or Sean Avery is from Alaska. Not sure which one but I am sure it's one of those two.
