Who was following Welles?

For the first half of the film after he arrives in LA there is someone who has been following him? We see someone in the car watching him but due to the shadows we can’t see who it is? At first I assumed it was Londale because he knew was Welles was doing and wanted to make sure he didn’t figure anything out but then another time the person is seen smoking which tells me it has to be either Eddie, Dino or Machine? If that’s the case would Londale have told them what Welles was doing by that point?

Pretty sure it was Londale.

It’ll be someone secretly employed by Longdale.

Eddie started freaking out when Welles anonymously called to say he was onto them. He tried to warn Dino, but I think Dino only took it seriously after Welles commissioned him to make a film. That probably got Dino suspicious and then they reached out to Longdale who told them what was going on.

But the guy was following him before he called Eddie.

At that point neither Eddie, Machine or Dino knew who Welles was so it had to be Londale but as I said the person in the car from what we can see looks nothing like Longdale.

That’s what I mean - my post was explaining how it couldn’t have been Eddie, Dino or Machine, and therefore must have been someone secretly employed by Longdale.

I guess that makes sense and when he saw Welles go into Eddie’s office that’s when he decided to call Dino and Eddie to let them know what was going on.
