Hi i caught the end of this film on TV the other night and i was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of the character/actor who asks Tobey Maguire if he's going to marry the girl. He looked really familiar and it'll bug me if i dont find out

If it was when they returned to the house it was Jonathan Brandis/Cave Wyatt

I think you mean Tom Wilkinson who played Orton Brown. He's an English actor, which may be what's throwing you off, probably more famous for his role in The Full Monty.
