This film is one of the best Civil War movies ever; it shows you how complex the issues of the day were. I have an ebay DVD and try to watch it a couple times a year and since if was filmed around KCMO, that makes it even better. The opening wedding scenes were filmed at Watkins Mill SP near Kearney, MO,Jackson County Parks areas and with what was left of Pattonsburg, MO (after the 1993 flood,NE of KC) standing in for 1863 Lawrence raid. Check out the Bushwacker Museum in Nevada, MO if you get the chance, lots of weapons and history of the Border Wars. The term "Border Wars" is still used to describe(around the KC area, for the most part although frowned upon as how can a sports rivalry be called a "war" in light of current events) the KU-MU sports contests. Another good film is "Frank and Jesse" about Jesse James, Frank James and the Cole Younger gang. It is post CW, but gives a good sense of how American outlaws came into being.
