Interesting resonances with some of the themes of Hateful Eight
in some ways a vastly different style of film - and certainly a very fine film in its own right - but I see some interesting thematic interchanges with the Hateful Eight
looking at some of the community-based and ornery violence embedded in US history
black/white interrelationships and cooperations
an ex slave surviving in white America
the place of the Confederacy in historical memory - with RWTD being far more complex and thoughtful examination of the Confederate past
Chris Mannix in H8ful 8 was of course an ex-Confederate Bushwacker
and even a couple of call outs of details I think ... particularly when Sue-Ellen complains about Holt being in the hut with them - just as Daisy complains about warren coming in the carriage - but she does not get pistol whipped - though I think someone throws a snowball at her
certainly a film that should be better known and respected
