Devereaux = Jack Bauer?

I don't exactly get how Deveraux's character is supposed to be evil. He did exactly as he was told by the president, even warning him of the repercussions of imposing martial law. The worst thing he did was the torture and execution of one terrorist (the execution being out of character, since it served no purpose whatsoever and destroyed a potentially valuable future source of information).

These actions however are performed by the 'heroic' character of Jack Bauer on a daily basis. So, do those people, who think that Deveraux was rightfully arrested, also advocate the arrest of Jack Bauer?

I already posted that I gave this movie a thumbs up. Not because it is great film making, as I would rate is a mediocre film, but because it has some errily prophetic messages about terrorism, the proper response to such, torture, the use of the military to combat terrorism, etc...

But I did find some general weirdness with it-

1. When the bus blows up, I saw several ounces, or perhaps pounds, of bloodly "chunkage" fly out of Denzel's nose. What was it? Brain matter?
Once the camera changed angles and Denzel was lying flat on the ground, the chunkage mysteriously disappeard. All that remained was a few blood spots.

Is "bloody stuff" flying violently out of one's nose, common in bomb blast victims? I'm just not sure what that was all about.

2. One other weird thing- Denzel and his gang are getting drunk and having a pretty darm good time at a bar in NYC. Annette gets drunk and lip-locks the Arab FBI agent, then starts a slow dance with Denzel. Then...WTF??? The lights in the place flutter, bottles fly off the bar shelves, the entire bar apears to shake, and it can be the either of two things- Earthquake or Bomb. Being they are in NY and not SF, and it is a movie about arab terrorists, obviously a bomb just went off. But where???? The basement??? The upstairs floor??? The place next door??? Across the street???

No, we are apparently in a parallel universe- They all take taxis and cars and travel at least several blocks away, where a B-way theatre was just blown to bits during evening showtime. So how on earth did they feel the blast at the bar they were previously hanging out at??????

at7000,

I'm going to guess you've never been near a real bomb explosion. In most tv shows and movies, a bomb goes off and you can stand right next to it. In the real world, a bomb's shockwave is huge. Earlier this year in Afghanistan a car bomb with just over 1000 pounds of explosives went off in Kabul. The shockwave tore down brick walls 1/4 mile away.

I don't have another word in my vocabulary other than "tard" to describe at7000.

Deverueax murdered a man with not proof of him being guilty. Whenever Jack tortures a suspect, then finds out the suspect is most likely innocent, he is sorry. He never executes the suspect afterwords. So Devereaux crossed a line that Jack wouldn't.
