like ariel from the little mermaid was based off a real girl [i can't recall
her name], was jim based off anyone real?

Supposedly Ariel was modelled from actress Alyssa Milano. I also read that Jim Hawkins was based in part on James Dean(but I'm unsure as to whether that is in looks or attitude...both maybe???) I always reckoned he looked a(very)little bit like the actor who voiced him, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Yeah, the Disney animators takes always inspiration by the voice actors.

Yeah, I saw both Joseph Levitt and James Dean in Jim. He had James Dean's very structured jaw and straight nose. And the attitude to boot!
