Jim's Father

Why did he left the family? Ok, you may voice out your other reasons on why.

reply

He was probably not satisfied with his work situation and didn't care enough about his family to stick it out. Jerk.

The world is a mess and I just... need to rule it.

reply

Why are you calling me a jerk, that's so silly of you!

I think PR was referring to the father...

They never explain why Jim's father ever left him and Sarah when he was a child. I've read long ago on some Treasure Planet fan sites that Leland (that's his real name) and Sarah got together and had Jim at a young age. That would explain why Sarah doesn't age a lot when Jim got older. I think LeLand left because the others said that he wasn't interested in the family anymore and quit. Lots of times, people that start a family at a very young age tend to leave too soon if they can't handle the pressure of becoming a parent.

I may be weird, but I'm not crazy or stupid!

Thanks very much, I always thought the reason why he left the family was that Sarah keeps nagging him constantly.

I dunno but isn't it hinted slightly that Silver might be Jim's Dad, or am I reading too much into their oddly similar gestures of frustration after Arrow tells Silver that he's not to allow Jim to watch the launch?

That and coz it's a Disney movie I guess they couldn't play the bad paretn angle that strongly, and with Silver, be it the cyborg or Long John they are both redeemed somewhat by the end.

I understand this is a different version of Treasure Island, but in the book Jim's father doesn't leave them, he dies.
