Amazing Film.

I just rented this movie last night and I gotta' say I am Very disapointed in myself that it took me this long to see it! I have already watched it four times, I can't get enough of it! The script is great, the character designes of the main cast are really nice, the Voice Actors did a great job, the traditional animation is blended flawlessley with the CG, they pulled off the "Pirates in Space" theme amazingly well!
All together I was drawn into the story and Characters and when it was all over I found myself grinning like an idiot. For my money, this was one of the best Disney animated films of the last 20 years.

I just wish I had seen it sooner.

I dare say, the most underrated film of its release year.

Just watched this film - had never heard of it until I saw it listed on a sci-fi site and boy is this film brilliant!

Excellent characters and plot and development etc...Hilarious and sweet.

Loved the robot and the cute little changing pink blob.

Excellent film! Can not believe it is so unheard of. Shrek sucked and look how popular that was.

Like most things - the hidden gems are always better!

Shrek is s a good and funny film, but very overrated.

Otherwise, I agree that it's a shame that "Treasure Planet" didn't became a huge box office hit

reply

I don't really watch Disney movies but this movie was awesome.

May be for it is the first DVD I watched on my new home theatre system, but I loved this movie actually :)..

This movie is so great, one of my all time favorite Disney movies.
I guess it still hasn't generated a profit, which is a shame.

Fantasia was another great Disney movie that didn't turn a profit
until 20 or 30 years later. When they re-released it the market they
shot for was the drug croud in the 60s and 70s, and they made money,
and now its a classic.

Does anyone think something along that nature could happen to
Treasure Planet? Like a new appreciation for its greatness with a
ride at Disney or a new DVD release. Something so they could turn
a profit and expose more people to this wonderful movie.

I think a theatrical re-release would be great for this movie
but Disney doesn't seem to do that anymore in the wake of the DVD.

I just watched Treasure Planet on Disney's toon channel and I love it just as much as when I saw it in theaters 6 years ago and just as much as any other time I've watched it. The music--by James Newton Howard--is great. Don't you just love the flutes and the action music? It's great. But anyways, the plot is good, animation is good and I really loved the characters--especially Silver and Jim. They had a connection. The voices were perfect, the plot was perfect--everything about this movie is good. I wish it had gotten more attention when it came out. Robert Louis Stevenson was a great author, don't get me wrong, but Disney brought more depth to these characters. They showed that even though Silver was a pirate, he had a soft spot under all those cogs. I really, REALLY love this movie in its entirety. One of Disney's finest.

many years back i used to watch it once a month or so with some kiddies i used to babysit, and now i'm 20 years old sitting here appreciating this.... this wonderful piece of disney animation.
it's clearly not the most amazing thing in the world, but i will continue to spread the word that this movie should be watched and can be appreciated by many over the age of 5.

I completely agree! Great storyline...really great movie! Damn Pixar!!

I never knew anyone would watch it four times after renting it! That's nuts but cool! And I don't find Shrek stupid or overrated, it's a good film but sometimes popular films can get out of hand. I also love Treasure Planet, I think it's one of the best ones yet. I can't believe it's unheard of for most people! X__X

GOOD FOR YOU, seeing this movie for what it really is! :DDDDDDD

I have to agree with you! I remember the film being advertised in cinemas but i never saw it, which is strange because I saw almost every Disney release in the cinema since I was old enough to go! In fact i wasn't aware it was a Disney movie until last year, my housemate at University had it on DVD and we watched it and i fell in love with it completely and couldn't believe it had taken me so long to watch it before now! The Characters in the movie are some of the best animated and written characters in the whole Disney Franchise, yet they're not the most remembered. The animation is amazing even to this day and I don't think i can liken it to another movie/game that I've seen since. Not the best movie ever made, but definitely extremely likable and feel good... with some amazing actors in the voice work roles!

Glad to find people who appreciate this film as much as I do :D

I've forced all of my friends to watch it! Many of them hadn't heard of it beforehand, and absolutely adored it!

That makes me so happy. I love this film. I don't know how it happened, but I caught the bug for this film before it was released, and ended up seeing it three times in theaters, taking as many people as I could to it. If I had know what a bomb it would've turned out at the box office, I would've seen it more. XD

Yes, a most excellent, underrated film. The animation, the effects, the story, the music (especially the music!), the characters, the voices are all fantastic. It's always nice to have another fan out there!

i love this movie so much. It was one of the first DVDs i owned, so it holds a special place in my heart.

i can't beleive it's so unheard of and that it was such a big financial loss. it's amazing and so revolutionary when it comes to the animation!

Okay Awesome

This movie with it's gorgeous visuals would be great on Blu-ray and High Definition TV wouldn't it?

Wish they'd consider a release like that. I don't actually have any kind of Blu-ray equipment as of yet but if this movie and some other visually stunning Disne movies like Hunchback for instance were to be released on the format well I'd be the first in line :)
