John Silver is my favourite Disney Character of all time.
I don't care how under ratted this film is, the relationship between John and Jim gets me everytime.

shareI actually think all underrated disney films are the best ones
shareAnd yeah he looks like a villians but then u start to love the guy
shareI love John Silver. He can be a caring person for a pirate.
shareThat's because he's a villain with actual depth. He's not 100% good or bad, just like a normal person.
Flawless or completely evil characters are one dimensional and boring. They are bad basically just to be bad, so our hero has someone to overcome.
In this film it's completely different. Silver feels like a human being(or alien lol) that has thoughts, desires, a past and most importantly, a conscience.
Great character.

Silver's brilliant. So nuanced. A phenomenal piece of animation filmmaking imo. Like the level of emotion he inspires when he's talking to Jim, about charting his course and rattling the stars... It's just so damn motivational.
And as a side note, I also justreally love how they made animation history, in cgi and physical 3d, with his character, combining computer generated and traditional animation for the film and traditional sculpting and 3d printing for his maquette. The dvd documentary on it was fascinating.
