Paul Giamatti - best part of the movie

i thought he was the highlight of the movie. overall not a great movie but giamatti shined. great comic relief which this movie very much benefited from

reply

That & Helen Bonham Carter's wig. Rest of it - P U - stinkeroo!

reply

He's rarely NOT the best part of a film he's involved in. The man is a treasure.

Giamatti is the only one who looks as if he actually wants to be there. Walberg looks bored and seems to be there because at that point he was looking for a franchise to secure his status. Roth gives it a go, but beneath it he seems to always look as if he believes he's slumming it for the check. Giamatti looks like a guy who's having fun with the role and the chance to play around in a fantastical toy box and comes out looking all the better for it.

reply

Tim Roth and Helena Bonham-Carter certainly looked like they wanted to be there. As did Michael Clarke Duncan.

reply

I think the same.

reply

Disagree.

He's the worst part of the movie by a country mile. He's so hammy and OTT that I think that he, pretty much alone, drags this film down tonally.

reply

He was funny, but I would not say that he was "the highlight of the movie ".
