Those were all very huge hits from the 1950s, as you probably already know.

How this man didn't get nominated for an Oscar is beyond me. Just gorgeous.

Well, I know why he wasn't nominated -- because the Oscars are in not way based on actual quality, just fanciful whims and what's trendy.

OMG I TOTALLY AGREE!! Even at the very beginning during the opening credits, I thought the music was just incredible.

The score is a major part in what makes the movie so insperational for me.

I was lucky enough to come across an unopened CD of the film's soundtrack in a thrift store, and got it for only a few dollars. The first few moments of the film have always been my favorite; right when you see the images of machinery and the coal mines. This film had such beautiful music. When I feel like listening to really moving music, I pop this in ny stereo and drift away.

Wow! you got really lucky. I live not far from coalwood and there's a copy in my town thats brand new thats going for over $100! Amazon has it too but its not cheap at all. I can't agree with ya' more on the opening scene of the movie. The music fits soo well with that sequence. It's a shame that the composer didn't get recognized for his work.
