At the Science Fair? Didn't that place lock up at night, have guards? What was the robber going to do with a rocket part? Was it a Soviet who stole it?

Probably one of the top runners in the fair walked by Homers display right after the gym was opened and threw it all in a bag which went into the trash some where.

"Tickets Please..."

Had to be a Saboteur for sure...
One of the top ten competing for the grand prize.
A whole other tale could be told.

Wonder if that part of the story was true.

I doubt it. It was mechanism for the father to come through for him but the whole drama with the father was made up.
