Freddie Prinze's character

This was a very entertaining "except" for Freddie Prinze's character. Didn't it strike anyone strange that he was suppose to be a junior officer but was always on the bridge giving advice. In any military organization this would not happen. Of the hundreds of pilots, he was the only one on the bridge. I think that if they did a do-over of this movie, they should remove him from the cast altogether.

Blair is only on the bridge a few times and is never giving "advice. He gets brought to the bridge once to deliver the mission disk (understandable) and then gets asked there by paladin during the jump. He's just observing (since Paladin is using Pilgrim jump coordinates). Then He's there with Angel being debriefed after their encounter with the Concomm.... though there was more to this in the deleted material since Blair is also being asked about a signal he detected coming from the Claw. The only time it seems weird he's on the bridge is near the end of the film before he goes to make the jump to earth... But I guess they gave him some leeway since he had just got them those fuel cells. (technically killed the pilgrim traitor in the script). But I don't remember him ever once giving out advice.

Now FPJ isn't that great an actor, I'll give you that... Though you do have to keep in mind that some of his awkward lines were supposed to be a conversation with his holographic sidekick... so a bunch of his dialogue is out of context and suffers from weirdo ADR.
