Coming to Blu-Ray 8/6/13

I just happened to come across this info this morning on Blu-ray.com:

Never thought this film would see the light of day on Blu-Ray. I've seen it on HBO HD a couple times and it looks great...makes me wonder if the current HD master will be used or Anchor Bay create a brand new transfer?

Does it include any of the deleted material (either on screen or from the script) that would have made the story a whole lot more coherent?

reply

So far, they've yet release any details for special features.
I'd really like to see those scenes though because I've been very curious since its initial release back in 1999.

Also, I find it interesting and wondering why did FOX license out the title to anchor bay. Same thing happened with License to Drive, which also happened to be a Special Edition.

I honestly feel Wing Commander deserves the Special Edition treatment just like any other film.

I agree about the missing scenes making the film more coherent because after seeing the movie a few times recently, I can definitely watch the film and could tell scenes are missing (EX. Some scenes jump from one to another all of a sudden)

I'd really like to get ahold of the script, if possible.

You can read the shooting script here: http://www.wcnews.com/wcpedia/Wing_Commander_Movie_Shooting_Script. I color coded it so you can see what stuff was either changed or deleted in the theatrical cut. (there's 3 other drafts of the script on that site too)

I'd love for the deleted scenes to be on the new blu-ray but I don't think it will happen.

Alternately, the novelization can be found pretty cheaply on amazon and ebay... It actually follows the shooting script really closely.

Thanks bro!

I purchased a used novel at half-priced books for $1.50 :)

Can the fact it is coming to blu ray indicate that they might be trying to gauge the market either for a series or new movie?
