Is it just me or was Raphael more lighthearted in the cartoons than the movies?
In this version of TMNT Raphael seems to be more lighthearted and upbeat compared to his character in the movies.
shareIn this version of TMNT Raphael seems to be more lighthearted and upbeat compared to his character in the movies.
shareYeah, most versions of Raph, whether it be the movies, other toons, or comics, tend to be dark and moody. Here, he was more sarcastic and jokey.
shareYes. It's a pretty distinct difference that i noticed as a kid. In the original cartoon Raphael is the wise cracking smart ass. In the movie Raph is the moody loner, quick to anger & the most aggressive turtle which is generally how he has been portrayed in subsequent material over the years.
Interestingly Donatello in the first live action movie is the most similar to Raph from the cartoon & displays none of his tech skills from the show. Leo & Mikey were the only two turtles who were pretty consistent with their cartoon counterparts in the original movie.
Movie Raphael is my favorite
shareUmm, no it’s not just you. The movie was a big shock in that they made Raphael a dark main character, and gave Donatello the personality of cartoon Raph.
I actually always wondered if this was just poor research by the production team.
I think Eastman and Laird had more input in the movies and wanted it more like their version.
shareThis is true and it's the best version of raphael.
Raphael has always been my least favorite Turtle. He's just insanely boring in the 1990 movie.
Yo, HarrySkywalker. We met over at The Movie Database. Do you still visit/post there?
shareHello!
Yeah! Whats your name there?!
It was first mechajutaro, then later on neolosman. I've been banned twice since 2020, when TMDB started getting just as censorius as the average university campus
shareYeah, I do remember you!
Wait? Why have you been banned from TMDB?! Were you just suspended or banned?
Travis is a good guy.
TMDB's policy is to "suspend" users, then never re-instate them. As to why... I'm not sure if Travis is still among the mods there, but the website has taken an extremely censorius turn since 2020. The place is very different from '17, when one could write the word "fuckable" outright, without having it edited or your post deleted
shareBut were you banned forever? Didn't they tell you the reasons?
shareThe first time, no. The second time I was accussed of making a "personal attack" on self-identifying Wokester DRRDMusings. Really though, in private conversations with genplant, he admits that anyone who uses TMDB can file a complaint against a user if they "take offense" at something they read. Even if it wasn't directed at them, and even if these are folks who don't partake in the discussion itself
Therefore, even if a TMDBer enjoys amicable relations with most of his fellow users, 1-2 people can get you banned, by flooding the mods with complaints
Complain to them and ask them to make you return.
