Why did the Channel 6 crew disappear? and Season 9

Why did the Channel 6 crew disappear during late SEason 8 and were gone by Season 9

is it me or was SEason 9 worlds apart from the show of the first seasons? almost nothing was left but the Turtles, April and Splinter.

It got destroyed by Shredder in the first episode of season 8

I guess they wanted to make the show darker and edgier, so the more lighthearted comedic characters like Irma, Zack, Vernon, etc. had to go.

Because it's a cartoon show.
