My cousin wanted April to hook up with one of the turtles. She used to wish this all the time when she watched it. I explained to her that they were good friends, but not more than that. Not to mention that it was not anatomically possible.
I've always thought April would have matched up well with Leonardo as we was the leader afterall and would always be the one to untie her with his katana whenever she got captured.
I'm glad I'm not the only one noticed the April/Leo closeness. He was always her "hero" I think, almost always the one to save her/protect her. As for "hooking up", hell...look at the whole April/Don thing going on in the 2012 cartoon on Nick. It's not an official pairing, but there's an obvious 'thing' kind of between them (rather Don crushing on April, but still). If it's so taboo for the turtles to have that kind of relationship, it's being disregarded now on the new show. And again, there were obvious hints in the original toon too. I think there was a bit of Don/Irma in there.
I was in love with this pairing since I was 14-15 and wanted badly (till now lol) that Leonardo and April to be lovers ^^ That would have beed a dream come true
Supposedly, the creators of the show were fervantly opposed to the Turtles dating anyone. I would have loved to have seen their reaction if April and Leo were made a couple.
Yeah, I noticed that too, like when she thought Dnnatello called her a "dish" when he was referring to the Channel 6 satellite dish, and their interaction in "Donatello's Degree" as well.
The turtles always end up having a crush on April, but it never went beyond that and over time, she became more of sister figure to them. Saving someone's life has to be one of the top overused excuses for two people being together and being different species doesn't help either. Nobody goes into details on this so-called Don/Irma thing... just exaggeration or flat out lying about it. In the 87 cartoon, I liked the fact that April was single, these days just about every female character has to be paired off with someone.
