A Show Worth Reviving

I honestly believe the Raccoons was one of the greatest cartoons on television and I think it should be revived, either reairing the show or rebooting the series. If rebooted it they'd need new actors to play the characters like Bert and Cyril Sneer (since their actors are sadly deceased), but they would need damn good actors to beat the originals.

I'd like to see the series revived. If it's rebooted, it must include characters from the later seasons like Lady Baden-baden, Knox, Mr. Willows, Mrs Pig, Bentley and Lisa right from the start.

Another possibility could be a sequel to where the original series left. I saw a couple of Raccoons fanfics on Fanfiction.net where Cedric is married to Sophia Tutu and Cyril was now a grand-father. It give us an idea of a good "what might have been".

I agree completely I loved this show back in the day, I think a RACCOONS MOVIE would work today, anybody with me?

reply

I think so, except that apparently the guy who voiced Bert is apparently dead. He had such a distinctive voice, I think I would be distracted if there was someone new cast.

reply

Don't all voice actors, though? Isn't that what they look for in voices?

reply

Yes, I suppose that is high up on their lists. I found it amusing to find out that Bob Dermer was working on "Raccoons" at the same time as "Today's Special" and "Care Bears" for most of the 1980s. That's pretty remarkable!

I think Michael Magee is still alive?

If done like the best of the revivals of the 2000s (He-Man, Transformers Animated and Prime, Nickelodeon TMNT), I'd love a Raccoons comeback! But yes, who would replace Len Carlson? (And Marvin Goldhar? Nick Nichols we tried already...)

Just get Susan Roman as Melissa again, and I'd be happy :-)

Unfortunately, Michael Magee passed away in 2011. :_(
