I got hooked on this show about 4 weeks ago and hoped it wouldn't end soon, but I had no idea it had 400 eps. Looks like I'll always have something to look forward to every weeknight. Anyone know of any other shows which have reached over 100 eps or is about too?
DC has so many episodes it's nuts. And in a short amount of time too. Or shorter than say, The Simpsons. I'm hooked on the show like crazy. But I'm starting to settle with the idea that all these shows may not make it here.
The craziest thing is, I know I can commit to one a day if they did try to bring them all over.
I cant wait to see the newer episodes! FUNimation better get their butts in gear and translate those, how do they think they can release a series like that on ONE dvd a month? with only three episodes? o_@ dbz had two dvds a month at least!
Wow... only 3 episodes per DVD??... Well, at least I assume they will broadcast the entire series... In my country (or in my region), we only saw until the 126th episode... and I don't think they'll dubbed anymore... it really makes me wanna cry :'( My only hope is to get the japanese DVDs... spoken in japanese and with subtitles in english... well, it's better than nothing...
Or... Just visit clem.brastworld.com, and if you have Bittorrent, you can grab episode 128 right away;) And even, if you don't have the program, you can grab it bitconjurer.org, and after that, you can visit www.hongfire.com, click on the torrents, search for Conan, you will find them soon, along with movies;) Of course, they are English-subbed. Anyway, on doing the maths: of course, just like in the US, there's a seasonbreak also in Japan, but in difference to the summer, it is in autumn. We also must not forget, that New Year's specials are two-hours long, and there are one-hour specials (outside of Japan they will be shown in 3 and 4 parts). It has almost 400 eps, the next New Year's special will be 385 or 386, episode 400 will be hopefully the brand new episode with the Black Organization;) About the length of the series: well, it's not a secret, that Aoyama is a Holmes-freak, and Doyle had 62 books and novels, so in theory, he could reach this number with his manga, in that case, DC would have at least 500 eps, and 10 movies
the DC manga has been sold for over 1 billion volumes in Japan or all over the world im not sure. but Aoyama did say something about 1 billion volumes well, yes the animation came out in 1996, but the manga started in 1993 there are 8 movies came out already and the 9th one is under production i believe there will be 10 movies too =)
Jody-Where do you live!!! I only had about 67 episodes!!!!! AND YOU'RE SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MUST BE FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME!!!!!!!!!!! DO YOU LIVE IN AMERICA? DO YOU WATCH IT ON [ADULT SWIM]? YOU LUCKY ... !!!
Well you probably don't have to watch them ALL since the real story progresses very slow, the one about Conan being Shinji (Jimmy) and that Rachel (oh, don't know her Japanese name... --') doesn't know this. Conan doesn' have a cure and it probably very far from it, perhaps no closer than he was at episode 1 than he is at 400 (just assuming)? One person wrote that he/she felt that the series shows no signs of slowing down and probably the end will come when the writer is bored or when the interest seems to be lacking. Otherwise, one can hold his/her breath for an ending, especially about Conan fixing his age and maybe finding out how his relationship with Rachel ends.
But I hear the longest anime series is The Rose of Versaille. I think Dragonball (including all the seasons, not necessarily including DGT) is over 400 episodes but I don't know the number. I think the show was around for 10 years. I think Pokemon has many episodes too, but I don't know how many for that either. Animenfo.com would be a pretty decent resource to look up, though they break down shows by season/renaming. i.e. Dragonball would have the episodes counted separately from Dragonball Z. Oh, and Doraemon is old, and so Shin-chan Crayon.
In Japan, I looked in a video store and found the 1st DVD of Detective Conan probably to about the most current one but I hear from other people that the Japanese released the first episodes on laserdisc. But that medium is dead so it just makes it a pain to collect from the beginning. I remember someone wanting to do this because he didn't want to support Funimation (he was angry about the name changes for "Jimmy" and "Rachel," which he felt totally unnecessary), and so the subject up.
You can watch some episodes on www.youtube.com, or buy them off ebay. Thats how I'm trying to catch up. There are quite a few sites that have the manga scans, so you can read them. Not all of them were manga though. Rachel's Japanese name is Ran btw and Jimmy's name is spelled Shinichi.
