I know there aren't many female votes from the voting poll. But I'm pretty sure there's hundreds of "Case Closed fan girls" out there as well as the male fans.
One girl told me she likes Case Closed because of Conan himself. But I'm sure every woman out there has her own reason for liking this anime.
I think the truth is I love Case Closed primarily because of Rachel/Ran & Jimmy/Shinichi's relationship. I also love the brilliant ways in which the crimes are committed as well as how Conan deduces the truth about the cases. I don't know why, but this show never gets old for me. I can see why it's still on the air after 11 years in Japan. I just wish I could see more episodes here in the US.
Also, in case anyone is interested, I have the first 5 seasons that I could get with English dub (80+ episodes) on DVD. www.discountanimedvd.com and Funimation's Z-store (www.funimation.com) were my sources for those. I also watch fansubs online, though as I was watching a lot of the episodes on one particular site as posted on the message board on here, the site deleted them all! How depressing. There were more than 300 episodes on that site and I had never seen most of them. ::Sigh::
Don't worry those fansubs are easy to search on the web. If you know the right websites that provide unlicensed and already licensed anime.
I only seen 96 episodes and yet to see all of the 1998 episodes.

I absolutely love the Ran+Shinichi relationship. It's so romantic (although sad.) But I've been in a long-distance relationship for over 3 years, and even though it's the complete opposite of how it is for them, I can relate to the pain Ran/Rachel feels.
Though I loved this anime even before I was with my boy, and I must say that the story itself is simply intiguing, and that's what caught me first. Once I saw how those two were, though, I knew I had to see more. It's really beautiful, and I love being left "aww"ing well after the episode ended.
But in the end what hooked me was, indeed, the clever cases and Shinichi's suberb logic. Ever since then (which was four years ago, if I recall correctly), I've gotten even cleverer, despite the show not airing for years. I guess the effects are long-lasting. Once you watch it, this show stays with you. In a way, it can never end!

Am I the only one who likes the show first and foremost because of the cases? I love that i can solve them so easily and always welcome an episode that has the power to trump me. It's just this ability i developed as a little kid. Even those so called psychological thrillers cant do it, so i was amazed when an anime could break me down. Plus i have always loved mysteries and suspense. The only reason i like the relationship between Jimmy and Rachel, is because it provides a stable problem, not because it romantic or sad.
Not bashing on anyone, everybody likes it for a different reason i'm sure.
