Story Development of Detective Conan

I've been watching the Detective Conan episodes since they came on Adult-Swim (around 2004). I just recently started watching (3 months ago) the rest of the series, since AS dropped it in 2005. Now i'm caught up, and I have to say the main story is quite enthralling. I was just wondering, why the development of the main story takes so long? I watched episode after episode of the current episodes but I guess the only reason I was able to do that was because DC has been around since 1996! The main story really started to unfold around 2002, why did they do this!? At this rate, we won't get decent story arcs until 2010 or even later! And that's my rant. I'm just a little frustrated because it seems they show a DC ep in Japan about every two weeks or so and it also seems like they've started another series of episodes that have nothing to do with the main story (Thye Black Organization or characters involved with them). Any thoughts on this are welcome.

Because it makes them a lot of money, they take as long as they need to to flesh out the story.

Also, don;t count on the main story getting to the US, since the dub was probably cancelled.

I think they want to keep shifting the focus on the main story and the individual cases. I think that's why the series is so unique. Several "whodunnit" stories on top of the main big case.
