This manga gave me nightmares

I grew up reading the manga from an older friend, who had them in his cabinet. I was a big fan of Japanese manga (Dragonball, Doraemon, Sailor Moon, etc...), so I thought I would like Detective Conan also. Turns out I hated it. I was mortified by the sight of the corpses, which always are shown with their eyes freakily wide-opened. The eyes ALWAYS bug me. They are so creepy. Whenever I see a corpse I just use my hands to cover it. The shadows too. They always emphasize the eyes when a murderer is shown as a shadow. I was terrified for YEARS, thinking a pair of anime eyes are watching me through the windows. I couldn't sleep soundly in my own room because I was so paranoid that I was being watched.

Of course, I'm older nowadays and I read the manga online. I still block the eyes with my hands. They still frighten me. But it's a compelling manga, albeit a formulaic one.
