Having seen Lola ten times (in a film class) I wondered about Lola
and Manni. What's her motivation. Love? Yes, but she's over the top. Why?
In Run #1 her Papa's board member lover asks, "Do you love me?" Later we find she's pregnant with another's child as was his first wife so Lola is a cuckoo.
Tykver likes parallels. He has Papa running down the same road he ran when he married Lola's mother. After Lola is shot, in the red filtered bed sequence Lola asks Manni "do you love me?" Why? Parallel to her Papa's love, She's unmarried, pregnant and wants to work out the future for the life within. Lola is pregnant
all through her 20 minute run.

I was thinking this too - for all the reasons you mentioned. Definitely seems like a possibility.

That's a really interesting theory. If she was I'm not sure she realized it, wasn't she buying cigarettes when her moped was stolen?

If she was pregnant and if it was a true parallel, then Manni wasn't the father. But that would somehow not fit the love theme.
