Omar Epps Carried The Film
As much as it can be said to have been carried. It is an absolutely awful film from start to finish with almost no redeeming qualities. Jack Black was funny in the few scenes the gave him. John Hawkes was good as the buddy of Ray, he should have had more screentime. But of course this was a trashy movie that had no intention of discovering budding talents, it was just a cash grab
But yeah, Omar Epps's character was the best part of the film just because he was "normal". You vacation with your beautiful young girlfriend in a tropical paradise, of course all you're gonna want to do is boink. That is all that he wanted and he never got it because it was supposed to be a running joke
Brandy I guess was a popular celeb at the time so her character is just bland and survives for no reason other than because she was a little bit popular. Jennier Love Hewitt's character goes from not-particularly likeable in the first film to someone I wish would honestly die. Not just the character, but the actress. For agreeing to play the part as written and for putting on such a bad performance
Fred Jones is barely in the movie but he's just smoldering and brooding the whole time anyway, not much to see
So we're left with Omar Epps as the only one driving things forward with any shred of humanity. His speech before dying about being horny is also really funny in a trashy C-movie sort of way. Epps is good in House, but he showed his range here by being a bit tougher and edgier. Almost like a Makhi Pfeiffer-type performance, someone who would have also been good in this role
