Question about Warren

It has been a long time since I watched this, but I have a nagging question. If I remember correctly, Mary's brother Warren would freak out if you touched his headphones. However, at the end when Ted was getting ready to walk out of the apartment, I swear he removed Warren's headphones and said bye, and Warren acted normal and did not freak out. Was that supposed to be a hint that Warren was pretty much faking his entire life so he could live with his nice sister who would take care of him? Or did I just not remember that scene correctly?

reply

Warren would only freak out if someone he didn't trust touched his ears, so that simply showed that Warren trusted Ted at the end.

Got it. Thanks.

while I completely get that's what they were trying to show, this would have played a whole lot better if it hadn't been for the go-kart scene during the "history repeating" montage, which takes place shortly before this. Why Warren's sudden change of heart?

Why are there so many people on this board who can't understand what has got to be one of the most straightforward films ever made?!

These bastards!

Have you seen my baseball?

Have you seen my WIENER?

reply

"Have you seen my WIENER?"

No. I'm sorry. I don't have one of these in which to find it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_force_microscope

they even set it up when he remembers ted's name when ted and mary first reconnect, and mary's like "oh my god, he never remembers anyone!" this is seriously not a difficult concept to understand

reply

Does anyone notice at the start that the guy who tells Warren to ask "Have you seen my weiner?" actually gets close to his ears, yet Warren doesn't freak out.

Not so, it looks like he's about to whisper in his ear, but Warren gets edgy about it (not freaks out), so the jock douche backs off, and just tells him quietly without his hand to Warren's ear.

"Is this a shifter car? I cannot drive a shifter car. What the F--K is going on!?"

reply

But that's it, he just gets edgy. Any other time someone gets close to his ears, he starts swinging at them (no "baseball" pun intended!)

On the DVD, they explain that this shows Warren now accepts Ted completely. It's a moment of irony, because Ted is on his way out of Mary's life (or at least thinks he is).
