Why ever did Carin go see Larry alone!!!!!??? (spoilers)

Carin was uneasy around Larry and even she herself said he was weird or creepy. Then Patch, after her death, told Truman that she knew there was something dangerous about Larry.
So my question is, as sad as her death is in the movie, why did she go to his house alone?? Patch was saying that it was the medicine he taught her that killed her. Well, if you think about, it was her choice to go to Larry's house that killed her. If she had let one of the guys go there, like maybe Patch, she'd be alive and maybe even Patch would have been because maybe he would have been able to detect that something was indeed terribly wrong with Larry and talked him out of killing him and himself or at least gotten away. Or even if Carin had gone with someone.

I was wondering the same thing myself. If I suspected that something was not right I would have avoided a potentially dangerous situation.

P.S.
I like the exclamation poins and the question marks!

I think she wanted to prove herself that she could do it like Patch.

I agree with Tom. She was really feeling inspired by Patch and wanted to have the feeling of seeing that everyone was good inside and could be trusted. Plus, Patch felt the guy was okay and just needed help like everyone else.

Like you, I agree with Tom as well, About her as a love interest, she wasn't created late eiher as a love interest or not for the story, she was there almost form the stsrt--but she only became a friend of P.A> Thru the middle of the movie after refjecting him like 'most everytone else.

She had to die because she was introduced in the film too late to be a love interest of Patch's. Also, maybe she didn't know how dangerous Larry was.

No offense stevenackerman69 but your log makes no sense. They writers can do whatever they want with the characters, the writing, and the movie. Her showing up later in the movie didn't have anything to do with her death...it had to do with the story line and plot line. Characters, including love interests, show up late in movies all the time and don't always die.

I got some of what I said from the late Roger Ebert's review where he mentions that she shows up too late in the film to be a love interest.

I just saw this for the first time last night. I immediately thought of the Phil Spector house when she walked in the door. How strange to find out that this character was made up.

she hadnt had enough psych training yet to know that 1.a doctor never sees a patient with a violent past without another person in the room, 2. she hadnt been told the same thing that Patch had, that this guy came in often for treatment for depression/suicidal ideation and SIing (self injuring). Patch would have taken backup, or, more likely, insisted Larry come to the clinic. very few doctors go to patients homes, not only because they dont know what equipment they may need, but it is not a safe environment for them, unless they know the patient and their situation very, very well. how do i know these things? i have gone through things similar to Larrry, (though never crossed my mind to kill anyone!), and our family doctor comes to our home because my medical conditions make it nearly impossible to go up and down steps outside. our doctor isnt funny, but he is like Patch, in that he thinks of the patient, not the money.

In the simplest terms, she was just the throw-away for the False Crisis. Yeah, it might have been sad that she died but she never existed. Not in real life anyway. The character of Carin, her whole molestation/rape backstory, distrust of men and the romance between her and Patch were all made up by the writers. The closest thing we get from the REAL Patch Adams life was his close MALE friend that was murdered in a similar way to Carin in the film. But the writers know how their audiences that watch these movies will eat up any sad/tragic situation in a film, so they knew that in order to really tug at your heartstrings and make you feel sorry for Adams, that having his male friend being murdered just wouldn't be sad enough so they changed the friend's gender making HE a SHE then making her the love interest and giving her a completely made up backstory to try to provide depth to the character then immediately kill her off in the film leading to the False Crisis which is Adams becoming suicidal again and trying to figure out whether or not he should give up his medical career. NONE OF WHICH EVER HAPPENED IN REAL LIFE!!!

And that's why Carin went to go see Larry alone.

Oh members of IMDb, yours is a dim-witted and insane lot!

...oh,really? then you must be too, because here you are.

as for people discussing Carin, its because of their interest in the character. that does not make the poster dimwitted.

if you are offended by what you read here, there is the door, and you are more than welcome to leave.

I'm pretty sure the line, that everyone here seemed to miss, is "If we don't show him compassion, who will?".
