About what Larry said...

I'm a little confused about what Larry said when Corinne went to his house. After he took her jacket, he said, "We don't want to be late." What did he mean when he said this? I know that he had mental problems but that doesn't explain what they were going to be "late" for. I've seen the movie many times and I don't understand what he meant. Any help would be appreciated!

Well he was a crazy guy... generally they don't tend to make sense. You did know he killed her right after that right? So it could be inferred that he didn't want them to be late for death. *shrug* Again, crazy guy.

Ya nothing implied, so use your immagination

Maybe it was supposed to be ironic or something. Or sarcastic. That's the way I saw it. But I loved the way they did the scene where Patch is told about her murder. It had that real sudden, detached element, which made it really realistic.

I think another reason why it would be confusing is because it's meant to make you look up and wonder what's going on, it's meant to discomfort you about Corinne being at Larry's house alone, subconsciously preparing you for what comes next.

This has the William Tell/Lone Ranger/Pavlov's dog effect on me..anyone ELSE, when they hear "Fur Elise" by Ludwig von Beethoven THINK of that scene?:)

reply

She said, "I really can't stay long." His reply was, "Yeah we don't want to be later." As in we don't want to be out late, is how I took it.

reply

how about perhaps he planned to kill her and dead people are referred to as being "late" I mean dude, are you really that clueless? Think of what it could mean, jesus christ, there 2-3 things it coulds mean that aren't hard to think about on your own... nobody else here knows any more than you do.

reply

ok.how did Larry kill her?

reply

He shot her.

shotgun

"Ooh!Pass the popcorn! This is gonna be good!"

reply

The dean said how. Larry killed her with a shotgun and then killed himself with the same gun.

I can't remember but from what I read here I'm guessing the goal was to confuse the viewer, to point out how weird he is.

I always thought he came over with a plan to take both of their lives. So when he said, "We don't want to be late", I always took that to mean that he didn't want to prolong the inevitable and what he was about to do.

So we made our own computer out of macaroni pieces & it did our thinking while we lived our lives.

reply

I wonder if he didn't want to just kill himself. Maybe Carin tried to stop him, thinking he could and when she tried, he just shot her to prevent that. Then since he didn't want to be tried for her murder, he killed himself. We don't see what happened, so we don't know.

reply

Proper Slut, you are correct. I, too thought that Larry wanted not to be late in taking both of them myself.

Sarah Silverman Is Magic

Amanda Bynes is hot, Lindsay Lohan is not

reply

He meant he didn't want to be late for his date with death. He was going to kill himself.

reply

She implied that she had somewhere to be, and that she didn't want to be late. He agreed that it's best not to be late.

It's very straight forward. I don't understand why so many people have a hard time understanding it.
