I can't quite grasp why this movie cops so much flack.

As I was re-watching this movie, and feeling totally inspired by it, I did a quick Google search and was met with so many negative reviews (and lots of "why the real Patch Adams hates the movie"). I just do not understand why people hate such a heart-warming and fun movie (and who cares if the real Patch Adams hates it if it makes people feel good and sends a good message?!).

Just wanted to say a good word about this movie. I think Patch Adams (in the movie anyway) is hilarious and someone who I aspire to be like.

I mean, who doesn't admire someone who just wants to help people, and who doesn't want to swim in a bath full of noodles?

Completely agree in all regards.

I understand everyone has different tastes as far as movies go, but the level of nerd rage surrounding this movie is astounding.

"but, but, but, the REAL Patch Adams didn't even like it!" As if his opinion is the ultimate deciding factor as to whether or not you should be entertained.
