The scene with Arthur Mendelson please explain?
Ok so I understand the whole fingers thing, looking beyond the problem to find the solution....... but how did Patch fixing his cup make Arthur want to tell him the fingers theory??

shareIt is a continuation of that theory. Arthur wasn't crazy, but the Doctors, Staff and patients thought he was because of his actions. They were all seeing "The problem" and not the "solution" Even though Patch was being insulted for the purpose of seeing "a crazy old man" which was Arthurs desired position. Instead he saw beyond that guise and let Arthur know by instead of walking out which would have been the normal response, by "patching" the cup he was letting him know that he is not falling for it.
