A few details - please, help

Watching this film, I couldn’t understand a few details. Would you be so kind...?

1) The first night Young Man slept in their house, Mrs Weinberg had a dream. In the dream, she went downstairs and they sat together in the sofa. He showed her his T-shirt with "X" or some kind of sign on it. She looked terrified. The dream finished with Mr Weinberg running downstairs with an axe.
What was that he had on his T-shirt???

2) The last morning that all of them were still alive. Mr Weinberg woke up, went to breakfast and tried to kiss his wife but she ducked away and said something like "You look terribly!" He looked into the mirror. He had a cut or what beside his mouth.
What was it and what was it caused by?

3) At the funeral. Her mother gave him a goodbye-letter.
Did she write that letter or did he himself?

Maybe I am a bit dull or just didn’t watch it properly. I would be happy if any of you helped me understand.

I have no idea what the significance was about Norman's sweater in the dream, but I believe I can help out with the other two questions. :)

I think the mark on his face was caused by the poison ivy he went treading through to retrieve the badminton birdie. I seem to recall her mentioning something about "I don't think it'll spread anywhere else" before the whole kitchen fight started.

I believe the "suicide note" was the words she had written for Norman's character, since he claimed to be illiterate. Because it was being read at the funeral, and it mentioned those were her "last words." And he had her sign it after writing it, remember?

Just my best guesses. :)

Thanks, thanks, thanks!

I was losing hope that someone at last will show mercy and answer my questions!

Anyway, fellow, you seemed to be in a good mood while writing this - those :) look quite cheerful! :)

The letter on his sweater was a Y for Yale...It had to do with teh guy she was talkin about at the breakfast table..Her fisrt love that her mother scared off...Normans character reminded her of her first love...

An youre right about the last two...It was poison ivy an the "suicide note" was the thing he had her write down...
