first of all i have to say: despite all the negative opinions i read about this film - i think this film is JUST GREAT!!!! it's definitely one of my favourites!!! alan rickman and norman reedus are really really great, and the story is fascinating! BUT i really don't like polly walker, i think she is not good at all... especially that shouting-in-the-kitchen-scene - i don't believe her a single word, i can't "feel" her emotion... i would really like to know what you think about her in this film... and - is there anybody (like me) who just thinks this film is GREAT?!
Hi Lycka. Actually, I really liked this movie too. I went into it with really low expectations, so maybe that helped. But this is a movie I immediately wanted to watch again after seeing it and that doesn't always happen. When I first saw it, I took it at face value. Sure I assumed bad things would happen, but I didn't know exactly what. After watching it again, I started to see all the many signs that I completely ignored the first time around. Conversations that were about something completely different than what they seemed like they were about, etc. Movies that make me think and figure things out interest me. I can't help but wonder if the sound had been better on this film that it may have faired better. The sound, particularly the dialogue sound, makes it feel like a bit of a B-movie. I don't know if there was a lot of ADR or what.
As for Polly Walker, I'm not entirely sure one way or the other. I think I liked her in general. She mostly fit the character. However, I agree that during her big outburst, I didn't see it behind her eyes. Otherwise, to me at least, she seemed fine.

That film is so great, I can't find words to describe it apropriately! It's one of the very few films I can just watch again...and again...and again... And you will always find new details you haven't noticed before! And I still sit on my couch - mouth wide open and blinking frantically - on the final scene! *giggle* Personally, I really like Polly Walker - especially in that kitchen scene! She's so bitter! And I really think that this feeling describes best the situation of their marriage...and to me she perfectly conveys this emotion!
