JUST FINISHED WATCHING THE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EDITION AND AM DISAPPOINTED BY THE FACT THAT NONE OF THE DELETED SCENES THAT WERE TALKED ABOUT ON THE ORIGINAL COMMENTARY TRACK WERE INCLUDED. THERE WAS ONLY ONE SCENE SHOWN INVOLVING THE SUBTITLED DRUNK GIRL, NO WATERMELON SCENE (HAVE WANTED TO SEE THAT SCENE FOREVER) NOTHING THAT INTERESTING BUT LIKE 2 SCENES. THE REST WERE MAINLY SLIGHTLY EXTENDED SCENES WITH A FEW EXTRA LINES THROWN IN. OH YEAH AND NO THEATRICAL TRAILER? THE ONLY GOOD THINGS WERE THE REUNION FEATURETTES WHICH WERE VERY INTERESTING. I GUESS WE WON'T SEE THE ORIGINAL CUT OF THE FILM. MAYBE IN ANOTHER 10 YEARS. BY THE WAY THE PICTURE QUALITY ON THE BLU-RAY WAS REALLY GOOD.
Extra features were decent but nothing I'd watch over and over again, though I must say all the people that were in the movie who SHOWED UP for the interviews are lookin great these days. Pissed that JLH, Charlie and Lauren were not in it. Guess they feel they are too big for one of the best known teen comedies of our time. Seth though had the best things to say, guy is friggin hilarious. Brecken shoulda been there, surprised Debroah didn't make him do it. Oh and Ethan doing the funny..."PRESTOONNNN" I broke out laughin hard at that and when Seth was makin fun of himself.
Glad I at least got to see the infamous "This party sucked" spray painted on the front door. The DVD version was the first ever DVD I bought. BD was good but not great, definately a good watch on the new high def format. A must have still for any major fans of the movie...oh but please don't get me started on the menu functions.
On the new audio commentary (not the previous one from the first issue), I think they made reference to Lauren Ambrose being busy working on "Shakespeare in the Park". Not sure why Jennifer & Charlie didn't participate.
JLH has been trying to shed her teenie earlier days image for years now. Back when she had pop albums and were in flix like this and Trojan War and now she's trying to do more adult drama. Charlie is quite the same, I'm pretty sure he actually shot this movie over the summer in college to help pay his tuition (even fees from Hook and Dick Tracy hardly cover the cost of MIT...). He has been out in the real world doing real engineering for a long time and probably doesn't want to go back.
