Amanda

Did anyone else think that she was incredibly annoying, and not as hot as everyone was making her out to be? Maybe I missed something, but if she was so popular, how come she spent the whole party just sitting by herself drinking water? Why did she even go in the first place? It was like she was trying way to hard to be this sweet misunderstood girl that every guy desired. I am probably in the minority with this one, but oh well.

Other than that I normally hate 90's teen comedies, but I love this movie. All of the other characters are great(besides Amanda), and that is hard to come by in a movie.

This is a very late response, but to answer your question I think that it was that Amanda wasn't really that popular. Or, I guess, the only reason she was "popular" at all was because she was Mike Dexter's girlfriend. When she talks to the girls that are supposedly her friends she seems to not care much about what they are saying and they were obviously being fake when telling her she was "prettier than Gwyneth". Hence, I don't think they were true friends but they were the girls she hung out with because they were part of that "popular" crowd. She really seemed to be isolated with that group. She didn't seem to know who anyone else was outside of her own clique so if she doesn't care to talk to those girls I would assume she doesn't really have any friends.

Jennifer Love Hewitt as Amanda was/is incredibly hot! :-) Such sexy hair, such gorgeous legs and that outfit was just perfect! :-) She's a Goddess! :-)

I agree with the OP and everyone here. I think the reason she came across as annoying was that she was sick of the whole 'Mike and Amanda' thing and the "popularity" crap. Deep down she hated being looked upon as some sort of 'sexy object' instead of person by that clique and nearly every guy at the party. Also notice how she directly/indirectly took it out on Preston which left a bad dent on the night for him. At least she had the nerve to go find him and apoligize later. But still, I think she was sick of the high school crap with her boyfriend and was ready to move on.

For my money, it doesn't get much hotter than mid to late-'90s Jennifer Love Hugetits, so I'd have to disagree with you.

Yeah, she was kind of annoying, walking around the party with a serious case of bitch face all night.

I just gotta weigh in here. I don't agree with O.P. and the others running her down. Jennifer circa 1998 was about as piquant/fetching a package of budding femininity as ever existed. Tributes to her beauty are everywhere, so I will just mention that it's not really about looks in a photo. It's the genuineness of her acting in this kind of role. Her expressions are so angelic when it's called for. That thing she does with her eyes when the kid she adores finally realizes she is the answer to his dreams - or, as in this case, the kid who adores her and she realizes he is the answer to HER dreams - nobody else could ever do that. Compare the final scene in the train station in Can't Hardly Wait to the final scene in Trojan War. They are the same, even though the situation is reversed. It's the JLH trademark scene. And it's perfect.

Amanda was a bore and a prude and I wouldn't want to party with her. Her outfit at the party sucked. Jaime Pressley should have played the part of the popular girl cuz she's fun and sexy. Peter Facinelli was great in his role. Loved the nerdy guy who imitated axl rose.
