I actually think "Can't Hardly Wait" might have been released a bit early. It was in 1999 that the teen comedy genre kind of exploded.

It is impossible to say. AT the time the cast was full of unknowns other than jennifer love hewitt and to a lesser extent ethan embry. Not every movie has to make 500 million dollars to be a pop culture icon.
