Miss Emily vs. Miss Smith?

Continuity: Pecker serves Miss Emily a sandwich with melted cheese. The close-up shows the sandwich with unmelted slices of cheese.

Pecker serves "Miss Emily" a sandwich....classic. Notice "Miss Emily" and not "Miss Smith" or "Miss Harris".

The fact that Pecker addresses her by her first name and not by her last name, isn't because he is trying to be roud to her or he forgot his manners but because it's tipicaly heard in Baltimore. It's actually local culture, that children who live in and around the Baltimore area, will address adults who they are close to like naighbors or friends by their first name. So if your from the south or from California visiting Baltimore and you hear a child address an adult by their first name like Miss Emily or Miss Linda or Mr. Earl, don't be shocked. The child isn't trying to be roud, it's just that it is what the child grew up with. It's a cultural thing.

I just thought I'd point it out. I thought that it would be interesting for you all to learn a little bit about Baltimore culture.

Isn't that an oxymoron ["Baltimore culture"] ? The Baltimore I know ain't got not culture.
I'm only kidding - Baltimore is in a class by itself and, in my opinion, one of America's least appreciated jewels. It's even pretty today, but like an ugly woman it always had to have the best personality to get laid. Most of its citizens are either Catholic or Jewish, but unlike most northern cities, the people have always gone out of their way to make a visitor feel welcome. Tops in sports, medicine, food, music, and movies. Full of grace! Full of grace!
