For people who saw this movie at the theater....

...when the beginning was shown, what was the crowds' reaction? Did they go "What the Hell" when it went to black for a moment, or was there no reaction?

It's probably a stupid question, but I was just curious.

i asked on yahoo answers, one guy said he thought he got there at the end

When I saws it (opening night), someone behind me got up and disappeared for a few minutes. She came back and told her friend that she thought the theater screwed up and played the opening credits reel instead of the beginning of the film.
I thought it was a perfect way to begin a movie about Andy Kaufman

When I saw it, a few people laughed, like they got a kick out of it right away, and then two fat girls literally got right out of their seats, in the middle, and left, one of them saying "I told you we shouldn't have seen this"

ha ha I remember that! I understood it was a joke right away, only because logically there is no way a movie will ever be that short and make it to the movie theatre.

I saw it in the movies.. and that scene (like Andy's jokes).. brought confusion.. then that "OHHHHH..LOL" reaction afterwards... Brilliant how they incorporated that style into the movie itself.. Im sure many people who walked into the film a few min late.. thought they were waling into the ending..

I wasn't sure what to expect from the movie and since i was a little bit down and needed some laughs to cheer me up i said to my sister, i watched it with her in the cinema, "i hope this movie is funny."
Then the movie started and i had to laugh so hard, i couldn't breath and tears ran down my cheeks. the whole crowd looked at me, but i couldn't and didn't want to stop laughing. it was so funny for me. even if this would have been the real movie i wouldn't have wanted my money back.

I must admit I don't remember the reaction to that scene. But there were a lot of laughs throughout the movie. The movie was probably funnier than Andy Kaufman was.
