It's a typical spanish thing, a lot of people do it around here.

LOL

I love the title of this thread and yes OP I agree with you.

And no I don't think it's a Spanish thing or an English thing or any other language for that matter.

~What if this is as good as it gets?!~

A nurse....

Because theyre Spanish, it sounds different to us, just like "wake up" would probably sound weird to them, they would probably ask "whats with the 'up' part?". If you ever learn more than one language youll notice translations will sound funny to you, and our phrases sound strange to them, like "I have a bone to pick with you" or "kicking the bucket" would leave them scratching their heads and looking at us funny if we said it in their language. I guess its just how different cultures evolved over the years, different sayings and expressions

More concisely, they are called "idioms."

reply

Yes and obviously if the person im trying to help knew this definition then I wouldn't be trying to lay it out with examples relating to theirs, unless youre replying to the wrong person, you need to reply to the OP if you are trying to help people

I'm not Spanish but Mexican. I had surgery last year and afterwards when I was in that phase where you start to wake up but you don't want to and keep your eyes closed my nurse would whispered me several times to open my eyes to help me wake up.

I would imagine the gentlest way to be brought out of a cryonic sleep where you have spent 150 years with your eyes closed in a virtual world would be for someone to say "open your eyes", I can't say for definite however because so far it hasn't happened to anybody.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.

Actually no one said it. It was the alarm clock. He made a comment saying, 'stop leaving messages on the alarm'
So it must have been a clock that you could record on

Frankly autocorrect, I'm getting a little tired of your shirt
