A better "ending" **SPOILER**

In the end credits scene where it shows 2 kids running around in the park and then it pans to Anna and William...where she is lying down pregnant....

Wouldn't it have been a BETTER ending to do that same pan...show Anna and William with kids already (or simply pregnant like the actual ending)...hanging out with the friend/disabled wife with KIDS OF THEIR OWN (assumed adopted)?

I never know why this film never gave the couple with the "disabled" wife an equally happy ending since she did bring up the fact she could never have kids

A fine American ending [ho hum] but this is a Brit movie

It might have a Brit cast and setting...pretty good considering it's directed by a South African and written by a New Zealander...that stole a lot from 1953's Roman Holiday ending(especially the last reporter scene) which was an American film.

Do you have something against Americans or are you just an a55hat?

What a d0uche.

the fact of the matter is it IS an American ending. The "Brit" ending should have ended when William graciously says "no" to Anna. But the American "happy ending" is what happens, so when you're applauding "British" sensibilities, you're actually applauding American endings.

The ending of Roman Holiday (an AMERICAN film) ends realistically where the guy DOES NOT get the girl.

You use a thread from the OP that has NOTHING to do with American or British film-making to bash American sensibilities. I wouldn't be surprised if you were on other message threads that are thoroughly innocuous and use it as a springboard for a diatribe against American film-making.

So when you call it Roman Holiday Redux, and applauding the non-American sensibilities...you are being hypocritical because it's Roman Holiday that does NOT have the typical American ending and Notting Hill has the very ending that is prevalent...in..wait for it....AMERICAN movies!

BOOYAH!

well, that would be going rather a long way into the future. I assume at the end we are only meant to be a year or so on. It would be nice to think the disabled woman was able to have a child after all - people are always being told by doctors that they can't have children, and then getting pregnant. but the film after all is mainly about Anna and William, it can't show you what's happened to everyone. You need to use your imagination.

they already spent too much time on the friends for my taste so thanks but no thanks. (and i'm disabled)

I thought it was fairly obvious that the red-haired child was Spike and Honey's child, and the girl running around with them was Bella and Max's child.
