35 year old Dr. Pepper

Adam is seen drinking a bottle of this in the scene where Calvin has a heart attack. That sh*t must be flat as hell.

Okay, well... filibuster.

Quite true mcode518 . Also not to mention stuff like aspirin or any such products that have a more immediate expiration date of that sort ( can't think of any other stuff at the moment here ) . I'm watching this movie on the STARZ COMEDY Channel right now ( I never tire of this movie ) . Thanks mcode518 for your subject post .

If your only choices are water and flat Dr. Pepper and that's all you know, maybe the flat Dr. Pepper would taste pretty good, lol.

Really, his dad was supposed to be a genius, maybe he devised a way to keep them from going flat. Dr. Pepper was his favorite drink, you know. Plus he devised a way to record television programs long before VCRs came out.

You're right rmontro . Calvin ( Adam's Dad ) did drink Dr. Pepper hot like coffee , tea , or a hot chocolate beverage . So I guess it most likely wouldn't have stayed bubbly anyway but the heavy sweetness would have remained . That also would have been awesome if there was a " Deleted Scene " where Calvin was showing Adam his newest invention " A Cola Re-Fizzer " ( made that up of course ) and was walking Adam through it step by step so he could later use the machine too . Totally agree Calvin was a genius and was my second favorite character in this movie . Of course Adam was my first favorite character .

My guess is that he could have acquired the syrup from Dr. Pepper in bulk and froze it until new batches could be made with carbonated water.

Or, being the brilliant scientist that he supposedly is, he might have analyzed and identified the secret ingredients of Dr. Pepper.

Plus he devised a way to record television programs long before VCRs came out.

It's possible that he was able to get kinescope recordings of those TV episodes from the networks. I'm sure he would've also brought down educational film reels (nature & biology documentaries, etc...) for Adam to watch during his classes. Those would be the only video footage they could watch of life before the "blast".

Okay, well... filibuster.

Pretty much nailed the soda issue. The companies make syrup for restaurants and even people who can buy at bulk as long you have the money and instruments. He prob had the stuff to make it.

Those were def Kinescopes being watched. Those were made back in the days of pre tape, the networks would get these film reels filmed of the tv screen and that's how the affiliates would re-run something not live. The soaps used to love them so did old network news and re-runs.
