Skipped an entire decade the 80's and extras...

I love this film and have done for many years but they could of added some dramatic scenes in the bunker. I mean 35 years underground with 3 family members.... got to be some serious drama huh?!
Also how come adam didn't have any siblings along the way like to have a sister??
I also have to add that the family surely would've been through some psychological problems when encountering the real world when they resurfacedo seeing the sky etc.

resurfacedo... lol I meant resurfaced. Also when the family come back to "earth" the trap door opens easily. One would've thought that when the foundation was being built when the restaurant was being made that the guys would of poured concrete over the steel they saw initially. Like I said.... great film if you ignore the many flaws and issues the writers choose to ignore! It should of been half a drama and half a love story/comedy in my opinion. Great actors especially Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek wasted tbh

I didn't explain the meaning of my post... skipped an entire decade the 80's....
well if you seen this film, they showed the years 1975 - 1991 Nothing in between those years!!!!

I would have liked to have seen the 80's as well. A very colourful and fun decade. Totally missed.

Yeah, I think the writing was genius with having the malt shop be our way of seeing the changing decades throughout the years on the surface. In the 60s, it's a malt shop. In the 70s, it's a bar. In the 90s, it's a rave. In the late 90s, after it's closed up and condemned, it's a place where squatters hang out. There's even a deleted scene in the script where in 1970, it shows the malt shop and the crowd has been replaced by a bunch of flower children hippies instead of the clean cut surfer kids. Would have been nice if they had added a scene where it shows the malt shop during the 80s.
