Dee Snider's Strangeland vs. Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses
I vote for Corpses.

They both sucked donkey and cater to teenage weirdos.
share1000 corpses was pointless.... Im watching strangeland right now as we speak and its looking the same way.
shareupdate: Strange land is pointless.
sharewell, are you watching it or surfing the web? I can't take you seriously if your gonna be reading and posting on message board while watching a film your trying to judge.
I think Strangeland beats House of a 1000 Corspses hands down. Not Devils Rejects but HOTC for sure. Then take into consideration that Strangeland was made for about $2 million and House about $7 million I think it is clear that Dee did a better job. He should make another film! I bet it would be better. Maybe even better than Devils Rejects. You never know.
Close call, but I go with House of 1000 Corpses
Horror fans wanted!

And strangeland was a rip off silence of the lambs. Please saying "homage" means "lack of originality" is pretty lame. Is Johnny Cash "lacking originality" because he did a tribute song to NIN? Homage simply means tribute. Using your logic Johnny Cash is "unoriginal".
Zootsuite Mobster of the 31st century where cows fly UNDER the moon!!!
These films were made by guys that new their horror movie stuff. As far as this homage and rip-off sh*t, you can say that about alot of movies. I truly doubt that Rob Zombie or Dee Snider sat down and said, "Lets make this movie sorta like this other movie because it was so good." These guys wanted to make a movie that was their own. As far as which one was better is tough. Made at different times with different budgets and styles. Eh, too tough.
You make the move. Its your move.
Strangeland hands down blows House of 1000 corpses and Devil's Rejects out of the water. I've met so many people who couldn't watch this movie from beggining to end because they just couldn't stomach the torture. Zombie's movies were more for entertainment, sure he tries to scare you in those 2 movies but he really missed the boat IMO. Strangeland on the other hand has the realism effect. Where this is somthing that 100% could or could have happened. Thats why Strange Land is better and it so many people hate this movie. I think its one the better horror movies since Hell Raiser. StrangeLand redefines the word "horror". The sound track on Stange Land is amazing also.
shareStrangeland really isnt scary, but neither is Hotc...or the The Devils Rejects, but they are all good films and go more for the Messed up factor than the truly scare you factor. I vote for neither...To close to call in my opinion.
sharewell-written?
isn't this the movie where amy smart shows a full-grown man how to log into a chatroom and once they've made contact with the last known chatter of his missing daughter the police are so positive that he's the abducter that the SWAT team show up at the address that the chatter gives them in the very next scene only to find an elderly couple involved in some late night boning?
by the way, "house of a thousand corpses" is my pick not because it's a better movie, but because it's more enjoyable, ie. funny lines and whacked-out characters................it still pales in comparison to a lot of horror movies, though

Kill her if you can, loverboy.
I've watched both HOTC (and DR) and Strangeland this week, all for the first time. I enjoyed them all, but I'd have to say HOTC (and DR) beat out Strangeland by far. House was creepy, stylish, and fun. Strangeland was mor eof a psychological thriller, surprisingly with a lot less gore than I expected, and shocked with an (accidental) body count of 1. I admit I had my sights set low for Strangeland, but Dee pulled off an entertaining romp...
shareStrangeland was way better than Corpsesand i have to agree with the guy who mentioned Strangeland's soundtrack, it effing owns
shareSTRANGELAND was intelligent, well-written, and incredibly original for the time. Dee Snider did an excellent job in his first outing in the horror genre. With this film, he has definitely proven himself as much more than just a hardcore rocker.
HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES is a pathetic waste of time. Poorly-written, unoriginal, and just plain senseless. Rob Zombie does not possess a shred of talent when it comes to making films, yet he is constantly hailed for his efforts. I honestly don't get it.
Both are pretty terrible.
shareThat's tough! I know most are going to say Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and that in my opinion is a damn masterpiece of horror film-making, it brought horror back to the mainstream and put a stake in the heart of that SCREAM and I Know What You Did Last Summer crap.
But , I got to say , I think Dee Snider's Strangeland was just a notch above HO1000C , and here is why. First off it came out BEFORE HO1000C, so therefor Dee Snider pre-dated Rob's work. Secondly , the film took a more serious and darker approach, and the scenes were almost David Fincher-ish. House of 1000 Corpses was more candidly done, more humour than Strangeland and took wild shots a lot like an old 60's action film. However, BOTH were amazing and I love them to death.
Here's a catch though , if you were to ask if Strangeland was better than The Devil's Rejects? I might have to say No then. It seemed as if Rob Zombie really stepped up his game and with more funding, he created a film as equal if not greater than Strangeland.
In any event, I look forward to seeing more of these two guys in horror films and can't wait to see what the spit out next!
